Reindeer are arguably the most iconic species, and are a vital part of many cultures and beliefs. I had the opportunity to visit these resilient polar survivors at the Tromso Arctic Reindeer Facility, A Sami camp dedicated to their protection and existence. The camp looks after, feeds and cares for the reindeer during the harsh winter months whilst the food is scarce. In the summer, the herds then ascend back up the mountains to graze. Spending time with these animals was a truly spiritual experience, and you can see why they are surrounded by magic and mythology in many cultures. None seemed to be flying though…
