Visiting Tromsø in mid-November, I was in awe of the breathtaking diversity of the surrounding fjords. Kvaløya’s towering cliffs and jagged coastlines painted a dramatic picture of untamed wilderness, with snow covered peaks contrasted against deep icy waters. A short drive away, the serene beauty offered a striking juxtaposition where the turquoise sea lapped against white sand beaches. Fishing villages were dotted in the most isolated locations, adorned with colourful buildings emphasised by the dramatic landscape around them. The ever-changing light made photographing these landscapes a challenge and a thrill. The low sun hung briefly on the horizon, casting golden hues before fading into the polar night. The fjords are more than just dramatic scenery. They’re a testament to the power of nature in one of the harshest climates on Earth.
